John Wilkes Booth
Performed on stage at Richmond New Theatre, 701 East Broad Street, Richmond, Va. Theatrical associated and family documents indicate he paid for his passage with a diamond ring, escaped on a sea vessel to Australia and was employeed there in business. He was not killed by Union soldiers as history reports. Later upon returning from Australia he lived in the midwest United States until an old age. His colleagues considered him a brilliant man and actor. Richmond actress Sallie Partington was a close friend of John Wilkes and his family and had knowledge of his whereabouts.
